Information You Submit
Text entered in a search form, such as a name, telephone number, or address, is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Durham People Search does not save those searches on its own servers. If you send a message, we receive the details you choose to provide and use them to answer you.
Information Collected Automatically
Our hosting systems create routine logs that may contain an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. Aggregate use of this information helps maintain the site and shows which resources visitors use. Cookies or comparable technology may also support basic analytics and advertising measurement where applicable.
How the Data Is Used
The limited information described above supports site operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and page improvements. We neither sell a visitor list nor create profiles of individual users.
Privacy on Linked Services
Links lead to Durham and North Carolina government portals, library collections, records offices, and third-party search services. Information submitted after following a link is controlled by that service's policy, not ours. The same is true for sponsored search results supplied by an outside company.
Parties That Process Data
Vendors that host or support the site may process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising providers may receive the automatic information noted above. We may disclose data when valid legal process requires it, but otherwise do not share visitor data.
Safeguarding Information
An encrypted connection serves the site. Logs are kept only as long as needed for the stated purposes. Because Durham People Search has no user accounts, it stores no visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
Durham People Search is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if a minor submitted such information so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Your place of residence may give you rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data held by a website. North Carolina has not enacted a comprehensive consumer-data deletion law; Session Law 2025-79 is a narrower protection for certain nonprofit supporter, member, and donor compilations held by public agencies. We can search our contact mailbox and server logs for a valid request made through the Contact page. Records held by the City of Durham, Durham County, or North Carolina agencies remain under the control of their custodians.
