About Durham People Search

Durham records are divided among city, county, court, election, and state custodians. A name may appear in a deed index, parcel roll, court file, voter record, certificate, or an old city directory. We built Durham People Search to make those official routes easier to identify, including the offline counter or archive that may hold what a web portal does not.

Why This Site Exists

Durham is both a city and the Durham County seat, but its records do not sit in one system. The Durham County Register of Deeds keeps land instruments and local vital records. The Clerk of Superior Court holds judicial files and estates. Tax Administration connects parcels with owners, while the Board of Elections administers voter records under North Carolina law. City custodians keep council, permit, cemetery, and other municipal material. Durham People Search brings the official search tools, office contacts, and access limits into one organized reference.

Resources Collected Here

  • Pages by record type: public records, voter registration records, and people directories
  • Durham custodians: Register of Deeds, Clerk of Superior Court, Tax Administration, Board of Elections, City Clerk, and state offices
  • Practical search routes: court party searches, property-owner trails, and the Durham County Library's directory collections
  • Access boundaries: what North Carolina law opens, what remains confidential, and how to request an offline record

Limits of Our Role

Durham People Search is a privately operated reference site. We are not connected with the City of Durham, Durham County, the State of North Carolina, any court, or any records custodian. That distinction sets firm limits:

  • We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
  • We cannot confirm whether a specific person lives in Durham
  • We cannot remove information from government records or third-party databases
  • We cannot give legal advice or tell you how a record applies to your situation
  • We cannot guarantee that every record index, portal link, or office detail on this site is current right now

Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
